Work: 1984 Scavenger Hunt
Class: Humanities
Teacher: Mrs. Terry
My class started this assignment before reading the book 1984, so we can learn background information. I picked an image that went along with characteristics from the book, then I told why I picked this image, what is in the image, what the message is, and how it makes me feel. Then I had to describe characteristics of a dystopian society and images that correlated with those images. And finally I learned information about the author and how his life led up to writing this book. This project addresses Civic Literacy and Engagement because I learned about different types of government and ways to run a society; specifically a dystopian society. I am proud of the amount of information I was able to gather in a short time frame. I developed upon my Civic Literacy and Engagement because for one of the first times I learned about a form of government other than the kind I live in. The most difficult part of this project was the amount of time. I had one class period to complete this project, but I really wanted to research information and create a well written final design. If I could do anything differently about this assignment I would change some of the images that I chose because I feel like some of the images could have a better fit for the definition. This project relates to other previous projects because of the time frame. While it is challenging to complete an assignment in one class period, I have had to do it before so I felt well prepared. I can apply the assignment to future learning by continuing to research information before I start creating.
