My Mentor:
Liza Pierce
Liza Pierce is the most knowledgeable person regarding information about Maui. She and her amazing family have been living on Maui for the last twenty-two years! During this time she's been working at Wailea Realty, which recently joined Hawaii Life. She works in the Marketing department, helping agents show on social media what Maui is all about. She also has her own blog called "amauiblog" and wrote a book called "Maui 2021 and Beyond."
I am so grateful for her advising and teaching me all about marketing skills, writing, and how to help your co-workers and clients to make the best experiences.

My internship lasted three months, during this time my main goal was to learn how to properly blog and to create photo and video advertising. One of the first tasks she helped me create was making a google spreadsheet. This spreadsheet I made showed how all one hundred-seventy-one agent's number of posts on blogs, instagram, YouTube, Facebook, etc affected their number of active listings. At first I didn't think we would see a pattern, but by the end I could definitely tell that the more people posted on their advertising accounts the more active listings they had!
After creating the spreadsheet, Liza showed me how to make reels, shorts, and other video clips. We had lots of fun and a few of the videos we made got millions of views. We also worked on a few projects that I had more experience with like helping agents create posts on websites and other forms of social media. Theses types of projects were smaller, but still very important. After I learned more about social media advertising we worked on writing. She had me start with easier writing material prompts like, "fun tourist destinations in Maui." I enjoyed writing these materials more then I expected, so I expressed that to her and then she asked me "are you interesting in writing blogs for some of the real estate agents." I couldn't say no! So I spent the last two weeks writing blogs and working with my clients to create their inspirational blogs.
On my last day Interning at Hawaii Life the broker in charge needed new headshots. I got to assist the photographer and even take a few of my own photos of her. This was such a fun last day and I realized how much I enjoyed everyone's energy. Before saying my goodbyes the broker asked me if I would like to work at Hawaii Life and offered me a job! This experience gave me so much knowledge and amazing connection that I never dreamed of!
