Work: Quadratic Catapult
Class: Algebra Two
Teacher: Mrs. Alexander
The Quadratic Catapult was part one of my math assessment. The objective of this assessment was to research and create the best catapult that will project a marshmallow the farthest distance. For this project I demonstrated interpersonal skills because I worked respectfully and positively with my classmate in order to conduct research, make decisions, go through the building catapult process, create accurate testing, and build a google slideshow to present our work. I am most proud of me and my partner’s ability to work together in a timely manner to complete a fun, well done project. I improved my interpersonal skills in this assignment by learning more about different types of working environments and learning that sometimes people work better or enjoy doing a different part of a project, so it's important to learn and make a plan with your partner that will best accommodate those skills or interests. The most difficult task of this project was the timeline because we had two class periods to complete this assessment. We decided to separate the project into two parts to make sure we would complete it on time. The first day we created the design, started building, and started testing. The second day we created the equations on desmos and created our slide show. I would change the fact that we created a nicer looking slide show that took more time, when we could have just used the given template the teacher provided. This project relates to other past projects that have been completed because we had a goal, needed to conduct research, and then tested our project. I can apply this assignment to future projects by using the information I learned about accommodating everyone's learning styles in group projects, and apply that to make it fun for everyone involved.
